What Is 45-Day Cold-Process Soap?
The 45 days are the time AURAPLE’s cut soap bars spend curing before inspection and packing. In the studio, that resting period begins after the batch has been mixed, molded, and cut by hand.
From plant oils to a finished bar
- Choose plant oils and botanical ingredients for each soap.
- Mix the batch by hand at a low temperature and pour it into molds.
- Unmold and cut the set soap, then let the bars cure on ventilated wooden racks for 45 days.
- Inspect and pack each bar after curing.
The mugwort and ginger bars are two examples. The studio uses plant oils and fats such as olive oil, camellia oil, and shea butter. Mugwort or ginger botanicals give each bar its own character. Check the packaging for the full ingredient list and directions for the bar you choose.
How to care for a bar at home
Between washes, let the bar dry in a ventilated spot. A well-draining soap dish keeps it from sitting in water; you can also hang it up to dry. Store unused bars in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, and check the packaging for the use-by date.
